I’ve been working on a new blog for a while now, and it’s a collaboration of sorts really. I’ll eventually have another strictly personal blog on candacecunning.com, but its officially time to retire this one and publicize the newest! and in saying that – it has been wonderful to be blogging again; its been way too long.
randomlyorganizedchaos, its been great. and you’ll always be the most accurate way to summarize my constant state of being.
on the few hours break i had one day last week we ventured down to skona house, and while i didn’t get many photos i added a good handful to my beach glass collection. (so much cobalt blue! so worth it.)
a few favorites from a roll of film i’ve had in my camera for a few months now! dru actually just bought a scanner, so now we’ll be able to have all of our negatives uploaded and in a much better quality than the discs we’ve been getting from walmart. much better!
on another note… my fourth year project has been ordered!
(panic totally ensued typing that).
but seriously, that’s it, that’s all, its done, and there’s no making changes now. such a weird feeling! i just need to stop second guessing choices in the mean time. it was hard to narrow down what i’ve been up to and i would never be able to include everything that i would like (i’m a bit nonstalgic for shake face right now) but my teachers and few friends i’ve had to get opinions from have been supportive of what has been put together. so, i think i’m going to be really happy with it! only 29 days until the show, and the days to no more classes count… 16!
i’ve been curious for a while what it would be like to start doing manual double exposures, so on a fairly spur of the moment trip to st. john’s this weekend to see my sister i took advantage of the 8 hours travel time both ways and tried my hand at them.
i’ll admit i’m pretty much photoshop illiterate, so i edited both images in lightroom first and them imported them into photoshop, played with opacities, reimported the final images to lightroom and fixed minor details and clarity. thoughts? it still doesn’t touch film (duh, considering film is the best) but i think it might be interesting all the same.
i put up a quick preview of bree up just a few weeks ago, but seeing as per how TODAY is her actual birthday… and how her mom is a dream client (who shares my love of black and whites, can you tell?) i figured it’s worth putting up another load of favorites. she’s too cute not to share!
much love, and the happiest of birthdays to this very happy little girl!
so for demo day at marble mountain just a few weekends ago i had the chance to work with one of my favorite people (and photographers!) David Howells again while on a shoot for Magine Snowboards. and although the weather was mildly uncooperative, we all still managed to get a few shots and figured i’d post some outtakes.
a huge thanks again to dave for asking myself and jess along, and to the Magine boys for being so good about it too!
so much happened last year that i could have never predicted, including (but not limited to) booking and completing a destination wedding for some awesome people with dru, booking more photo jobs for this year than i can count on two hands, getting the opportunity to work with a few photographers and professors that have all helped so much with how i photograph/develop art, having a photo go absolutely viral, buying my first car, and entering my last year of university (finally). whew!
this year i already know that i’ll be graduating! (i actually get to stop paying tuition and keep my money from here on out? no more 8:30am classes? I DO NOT BELIEVE IT. sign me up. 98 days and counting). but as far as everything else goes, i can’t even venture to predict whats up. i don’t think I would want to though. wouldn’t that just stomp the fun out of it?
try as we did, the morning-sunrise-trash-the-dress idea, as beautiful as it sounds in theory just didn’t fly. the sun rises too early! (erika and robbie agreed, these are my kind of people). so instead, we opted for an evening trash the dress and the photos turned out even better than we could have planned anyway.
dru and i are still in the stages of sorting through everything (4500 images later, hello) but i couldn’t help taking a break from the wedding day photos this afternoon to have a sneak through these. hope you like!
ps: the outtake is still making me nauseous. or proud. or nauseous. the camera only got a little wet though ; )
