what a nuts week. the countdown to jamaican times has shifted from being 13 days into one powerpoint presentation, one artist statement essay, one canadian art history 8 page paper, one feminism project, one drawing project, one digital project, and final edits to a wedding, family shoot, and engagement shoot.
i feel like i’m behind about a month’s worth of sleep too, so logically… today was spent picking up beach glass. now, i know the train of thought there isn’t exactly solid but i’ll explain. the intention was photos for a project, but after seeing beach glass for miles (we actually walked over 4 kms) photos were forgotten and i managed to fill up an entire bag. its crazy how much going outside and just doing something in fresh air can put you back together! does anyone have any ideas on what to do with the glass? i know it’ll be made into some sort of project, but as per what we’re not exactly sure!
as an assignment for one of my classes after being given the theme of “humor,” i knew i wanted to have fun with a portrait project. so… meet shake face! technically called jowling, it’s when you shake your face back and forth until the muscles in your face relax, creating hilarious distortions when photographed. while not the most flattering way to have your portrait taken, i actually really enjoy it. i didn’t present the project in digital form either, but more on that later!
much love (and a huge thanks to dru for shake-facing so many times!)
i still haven’t managed to take any real shots of it, but i just set A Shot in the Dark to public on blurb for anyone to see or buy! you can click the link to go check it out!
in others news… i have some huuge news to tell soon once I know everything has been worked out! that, and a 35mm 1.4 will soon be mine too! seriously can’t wait, lens envy was too green of a monster for me to wait any longer. go figure!
